PARIS (AP) — Monaco did not even need goals from its forwards to beat Lens 3-0 at home and move to the top of the French league on Saturday.Wissam Ben Yedder failed to add to his league-leading four goals and Takumi Minamino stayed on three, and it hardly mattered.Coach Adi Hütter’s free-scoring side has 10 points from four games and was two points clear of second-placed Marseille, which drew at Nantes 1-1 on Friday.Lens, which finished second last season to qualify for the Champions League, has picked up only one point and club-record signing Elye Wahi was kept quiet up front by Monaco’s defense. Two of Monaco’s defenders scored, too, as it reached a healthy 13 goals from four matches. Wilfried Songo headed in from Caio Henrique’s corner in the 24th minute and, after midfielder Aleksandr Golovin turned in a pass from Minamino in the 36th, it was Guillermo Maripan’s turn to head home another pinpoint Henrique corner in the 59th.In the other match, Brest ...Tigers place OF Riley Greene on IL with elbow inflammation; recall INF/OF Tyler Nevin

CHICAGO (AP) — The Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Riley Greene on the injured list with right elbow inflammation on Saturday before their game against the White Sox in Chicago and recalled infielder/outfielder Tyler Nevin from Triple-A Indianapolis to take the spot on the roster.Greene, Detroit’s first-round draft pick (fifth overall) in 2019 will have the right elbow — he throws left-handed — reevaluated once swelling subsides. Manager A.J. Hinch said that might be in seven to 10 days.Greene was hurt while making a terrific diving catch in left field in the fifth inning of Detroit’s 4-2 win at Chicago on Friday. The athletic 22-year-old, who’s played mostly in center field this season, raced to the gap and lunged to snare Tim Anderson’s liner.Greene jammed his elbow on the play and was lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh as a precaution. The injury flared up overnight after Hinch said “things are pointing in a positive direction” on Friday.“Last night the physical exam...Watch: Bear walks into Telluride restaurant looking for a snack

TELLURIDE, Colo. -- The Colorado mountain town of Telluride has seen extra foot traffic over the past week and during Labor Day weekend due to the Telluride Film Festival. Why bears in Colorado like trash, explained Iglar estimated there were still 15 to 20 people dining inside and outside when the big bear made its way onto the outside dining patio, prompting those outside to head in. “Someone ran down and said there is a bear upstairs and I said 'Oh no here we go!'" Iglar said. The whole thing was caught on camera by both staff and those dining. “Our little neighborhood bear was on our back patio and then came up and around and headed towards the street," Iglar said. ROME — A former Italian premier, in an interview published on Saturday, contended that a French air force missile accidentally brought down a passenger jet over the Mediterranean Sea in 1980 in a failed bid to assassinate Libya’s then leader Moammar Gadhafi.Former two-time Premier Giuliano Amato appealed to French President Emmanuel Macron to either refute or confirm his assertion about the cause of the crash on June 27, 1980, which killed all 81 persons aboard the Italian domestic flight. In an interview with Rome daily La Repubblica, Amato said he is convinced that France hit the plane while targeting a Libyan military jet. While acknowledging he has no hard proof, Amato also contended that Italy tipped off Gadhafi, and so the Libyan, who was heading back to Tripoli from a meeting in Yugoslavia, didn’t board the Libyan military jet. What caused the crash is one of modern Italy’s most enduring mysteries.
